Craft and Design

The Craft and Design Experience features a range of artists from Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, as well as others from across the country, including royal sculptor John Letts, one of only a select few who have been granted a personal sitting with The Queen at Buckingham Palace.Among the local exhibitors at Fawley Court, situated along the bank of the Thames, are jewellery designers Amanda Birkitt from Chinnor and Karen Lewis from Marlow; Joanne Corrigan from Widmer End who produces rugs, cushions and other wool products; Adrian and Lesley Doble who run Partners in Pewter in Cookham Dean; Rustic Wrought Iron from Princes Risborough, run by Geoff and Julia Ray; ceramicist Sophie Smith from High Wycombe; and Suzanne Hooson from Little Marlow who creates unique embroideries.

Contemporary Jewellery Design

LeJu has always sought to combine the best in contemporary jewellery design with sustainable components taken from nature, as well as ideas and manufacturing techniques garnered from South America fusing them with European fashion to create designs that are unique and full of colour.

Founded by Lenny Trines and Juan Munoz, LeJu is the inspiration of designer, Lenny Trines, who became inspired by nature’s elements to design jewellery whilst travelling through South America. During this time Lenny spent 8 weeks in the Amazonian rain forest, exploring and visiting different villages. It was here that Lenny discovered her true desire: to create jewellery using natural materials, and the colours, shapes and energy echoed in the rain forest.

Juan Munoz is the business side of LeJu and is responsible for the global management of the company. He works with LeJu’s ever-growing list of worldwide buyers, manages the accounts, and carefully selects which trade shows LeJu will participate in. Juan came to England in 1990, and earned a degree in Business Information Technology from the University of Westminster. He worked as a telecoms engineer for 4 years and then set off to rediscover his home continent of South America for in search for unique products that he could take back to Europe.

Internationally based Jewellery and Fashion designers Jay Kamdar and Rick Young have been creating exquisite jewellery designs for approximately 10 years. The Golden Curl Image Awards recently recognized their contribution and dedication to the Fashion and Beauty Industry in 2004 by bestowing upon them a Lifetime Achievements Award.

Having achieved this prestigious award they are further determined to continue their contributions to the fashion and beauty industry by Recognizing, Nominating and Crowning the World’s topmost individuals in the Industry. With their combined creative flare for jewellery, their expansion into fashion design seemed to be a logical progression.

Latest Style

An index to this being, the contest's unprecedented response with over 7,000 entries that poured in from across the Arab World, from both amateur and professional Arab designers. The final round of judging, which took place on June 26th 2006 saw experts pick 9 lucky winners out of the 30 final Jewellery designs, which were manufactured by L'Azurde factory in Saudi Arabia. These winners who are from the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Syria and Lebanon will be awarded in a grand finale that will take place in November of this year, in the presence of well known Arab celebrities, fashion experts, designers and jewelers.

In the first round of judging, which took place earlier this year, 30 finalists were chosen from the thousands of designs received. The judging committee comprised of jewellery experts from the World Gold Council and L'Azurde. The 30 finalists were from all over the Arab World like U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lybia, Morroco, Tunis.
